The Ultimate Food & Beer Guide for 3 Days in Phoenix & Scottsdale

If you have been following me on Instagram for awhile and have seen all my Instagram stories of my local beer adventures, than you would know that I LOVE beer. It is the one alcohol I can drink that doesn’t make me want to immediately throw up.

Anyway, 2019 has been the year of trying all the breweries I can find. My husband loves good food, so I have a handful of great beer & food spots for you to check out on your next trip to Phoenix / Scottsdale. I know I have listed a lot of breweries for just 3 days, but one tip is to order a “schooneer” or a 10oz size vs. ordering a “pint”, which is 16oz. I can enjoy beer without getting incredibly full (or drunk).

The Eats //

Hash Kitchen

4315 E Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85018

8777 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85253

This is an amazing brunch spot and has Build Your Own Bloody Marys! Yes, please! When you first enter the restaurant, you will see the Bloody Mary Bar. Order from your server who will give you the receipt to take to the bartender. You get to choose your vodka, how spicy you want your bloody mary mix and if you want salt or celery salt on the rim. From there you are given your drink and can then go around the bar choosing what toppings you want.

  • Entree Recommendations: Carnitas Hash & Huevos Rancheros
  • Travel Tip: If you get the Bloody Mary, I recommend sharing an entree with someone. The toppings could be a meal on their own and we ended up hardly making a dent in our meal.

Zuzu

6850 E Main St, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

I definitely recommend going here for weekend brunch. We went on a Monday and the menu i saw online just wasn’t the same. However, the atmosphere is awesome! The hotel is definitely very retro and probably used to be a slightly sketchy motel back in the day!

  • Entree Recommendations: Breakfast Burrito
  • Travel Tip: Definitely come on the weekends for their brunch. The menu is different than their weekday breakfast!

Diego Pops!

4338 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

You HAVE to go here! It’s a cute little Mexican restaurant that has a cute outdoor space when it isn’t 110 degrees out. I definitely recommend the snocone Margarita and the brussel sprout nachos! Both are unique and are so delicious!

In n Out

I listed this one because if you are from Washington and have ruined yourself by having animal style fries and a burger at an In n Out in a state they are in, than you always have to add it to your list when you are near by. My order is just that: animal style fries (a secret menu item) and a regular cheeseburger (one patty).

The Beer //

Mother Bunch Brewing

825 N 7th St #102, Phoenix, AZ 85006

This one is a great spot to check out either before or after a Diamondbacks game. It is just down the street from the stadium. They have great food and great beer!

  • Beer Recommendation: Mother IPA
  • Food Recommendation: Smoked Tuna Melt & Bleu Cheese Wedge Salad

The Brill Line

901 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

The Brill Line is located in “The Churchill”, which is a group of container retail shops, restaurants and bars. There are a few new things coming so I would recommend checking it out! It is a cool concept with lots of seating and a few large lawn games. We sat at the Brill Line and had a beer.

Arizona Wilderness DTPX

201 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

One of my favorite spots that we actually just stumbled on. We were driving to The Churchill and drove past Arizona Wilderness. After some mural photos, we stopped in. They have an outdoor beer garden if you can brave the heat. We chose to sit inside. I usually like to try the pretzel if it is on the menu at a brewery. I have a few favorite spots back in Seattle, but this actually is my #1 FAVORITE pretzel EVER! I am so sad I will probably never have it again.

  • Beer Recommendation: Watermelon Gose (SO GOOD!)
  • Food Recommendation: Bavarian Pretzel Sticks

Fate Brewing Co.

1312 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257

When we visited Fate, we were right in the middle of a freak storm! The wind was blowing and the rain had started. I would have loved to sit outside as they have a cool patio area! Their beer was also good. If you are hungry, they also have a full menu.

Goldwater Brewing Co.

3608 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85251

This brewery has a small tasting room, and it was full when we were visiting. Most people seemed to be locals and it is also dog friendly! We sat outside with our beer and were sweating by the end of our 30 minutes. I definitely recommend it for a small local feel. Bonus: They have complimentary popcorn!

Wren House Brewing Co.

2125 N 24th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008

If you want a good spot to go before heading to the airport, head here! Don’t let the surrounding area freak you out, the brewery is worth a visit. It is a small house converted in to a brewery and their beer is good! They don’t serve food, so we brought in food.

  • Beer Recommendation: Button Willow IPA

PHX Beer Co.

3002 E Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85034

This was our last stop for the weekend before heading to the airport. They are undergoing renovations and just changed names. I can’t wait to go back when the renos are complete because it is in a cool warehouse. They also said they will be expanding their menu as well.

Are there any other places you recommend in the Scottsdale or Phoenix area? Let me know in the comments.
